LEAMINGTON manager Paul Holleran strengthened his striking options for the end of season run-in by capturing the vastly experienced Lee Steele from leaders Brackley Town.
Steele’s lengthy career saw him make over 300 league appearances for Leyton Orient, Oxford United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Shreswbury Town and Chester City.
He then moved to Conference Premier Northwich Victoria in 2007 and then to Oxford City in 2009 scoring 46 goals in 80 appearances for the Oxfordshire side.
Also signed as cover options on dual registration forms are defender Nick Amos (Rushall Olympic) plus strikers Danny Smith (Chasetown) and Matt Lewis (Rushall Olympic).
Holleran said: “Lee was top goal scorer at Oxford City last season and has experience which will be invaluable in our fight for a play-off place.
“The other signings are simply a case of providing cover options to the end of season.”
Brakes were not in action at the weekend but results from other games did not go their way.
Rivals Chesham United, Oxford City, Cambridge City and Stourbridge all recorded victories to leave seventh placed Brakes six points adrift of the play-off places with just five games remaining.
Brakes return to action with a trip to mid-table Frome Town this Saturday (3pm) before entertaining Barwell at the New Windmill on Monday (3pm).
