THE CARIBBEAN awaits a Kenilworth couple after a bride to be came up with a highly unusual way to propose.
Lauren Stuchfield proposed to partner Adam Moody on leap year day (February 29) as the pair took part in a quiz at the New Inn pub in Leamington.
Beforehand she had arranged with the landlady for Adam's ticket to be picked for a special prize draw, in which he thought he would be answering a random question to win cash. But Lauren took to the stage and asked: “Will you marry me?”
She said: ”I’ll never forget the look on his face. I’ve never seen him look so shocked.
“We used to live opposite the pub and have celebrated our birthdays and the birth of our son there, so it felt like the perfect place to propose.”
Luckily Adam said yes and the couple then entered their unusual story into a competition, on social networking website Twitter, which encouraged users to share their unique proposal stories.
Their entry was chosen as winner and the couple – who have been together seven years and will marry this summer - will now be jetting off to the romantic island of St Lucia on their honeymoon, courtesy of specialist tour operator Prestige Caribbean.
Adam, who runs Kenilworth printing business Printing.com, said: “It’s always been our dream honeymoon destination so I just had to enter the competition and i’m still stunned we won.
“We can’t wait to spend our honeymoon on the island.”
Jean-Marc Flambert from competition organisers the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, said: “We loved Adam and Lauren’s story. It not only embodies the ethos of Leap Day but it was also clever in its execution. They definitely deserve their 5-star honeymoon in Saint Lucia and we wish them all the best for their future lives together.”
