LEAMINGTON C & AC star Sue Harrison experienced the highs and lows of sport last week.
On Tuesday, Harrison received notification that she had been selected to represent Great Britain in the World 100km Road Running Championships in Italy in April.
She had earned her place after finishing 21st in the 2011 World Championships in Holland and then in February this year winning the UK trials.
Harrison, who is supported by Warwick Sports shop and The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club, was in Portugal on a three week warm-weather training camp when she received the good news.
However, just three days later came the bad news when, after a recurrence of injuries to her calves, Harrison was forced to inform UK Athletics of her withdrawal from the GB team.
A devastated Harrison said: "My last six months training and racing has been geared towards running in Italy.
"My aim has always been to run at the highest level possible and to represent my country.
"To have had to turn down that chance is heartbreaking. I will now take some time off to fully recover before setting myself a new target."
