PUPILS in Cubbington have created a banner urging parents to park more carefully outside their school.
There has been a history of parking on yellow zig-zag lines outside Cubbington Primary School in the mornings and afternoons, with one pupil only narrowly avoiding being hit just before Christmas.
Children were asked to design banner to get key safety messages across, with a team of judges – including police PCSOs and neighbourhood watch representatives – declaring year six pupil Megan the winner.
He banner design, which reads 'don't park on the zig zag yellow lines', has now been placed outside the school for all to see.
Headteacher Cathy Clarke told the paper: “There can be an awful lot of traffic there, including buses, and the roads are narrow.
“We are trying to ensure parents are aware of the need to keep space free."
Parents recently completed a safety survey through the highways authority Warwickshire County Council, and options such as creating a 'walking bus' from a central point away from the school will be discussed further in the coming weeks.
