Dementia roadshow comes to Warwick

By Kevin Unitt 22/02 Updated: 23/02 13:46

A ROADSHOW highlighting issues surrounding dementia comes to Warwick on Thursday and Friday (February 23 and 24).

A special vehicle – offering information and advice – will be parked up outside the Tesco store off Emscote Road before it begins making its way across the West Midlands.

In attendance to launch the roadshow will be Alzheimer's Society supporter and well-known sports presenter Rupert Bell, who said: “My mother has dementia so I know what a cruel condition it can be and the devastating impact it has on families. I’m delighted the Alzheimer's Society Roadshow is visiting my hometown in Warwick and I hope it continues to lift the taboos around dementia.”

People living with dementia, worried about a friend or relative’s memory or just having questions about the condition are being encouraged to drop by.

More than 67,000 are estimated to be living with dementia across the West Midlands, nearly 7,000 of which are from Warwickshire.

Alzheimer's Society spokesman David Ash said: “The Roadshow helps us reach out to communities, tackle stigma by raising awareness of the condition and speak to people one-to-one who are worried about their memory and encourage them to visit their GP.”
