OLD Leamingtonians Ladies back row player Caroline Spence has spent her first weekend at a Midlands Ladies Rugby development camp having been selected for the Divisional squad last week.
Spence represented Warwickshire in three fixtures before Christmas and her performances led to the county manager putting her forward to attend a Divisional selection day.
Spence, 23, has only been playing rugby for five years having started during her fresher’s year at Warwick University.
Whilst representing the university she also started training with Old Leamingtonians in her final year and following graduation 18 months ago started playing regularly at The Crofts.
Spence, a committed forward player, can play in both second and back row positions and is an excellent lifter in line-outs. She is also a powerful ball carrier with exceptional pace and agility.
OLs head coach Gemma Lewis said:“We are extremely proud one of our players has been selected for Divisional Rugby. Caz has a natural talent for the game and is an asset to our squad and theirs.”
Following a snowy training weekend alongside many Premiership ladies rugby players, Spence is eagerly awaiting the first match in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, OLs Ladies entertain Worcester 2nds in the second round of the Cup at The Crofts on Sunday (2pm).
