Oddsocks merry makeover

THE MERRY Wives of Windsor get a 1950s style makeover at Warwick's Bridge House Theatre from February 20 to 24.

Oddsocks’ new version of Shakespeare's comedy is inspired by the era of teenage revolution and the soho coffee bars which saw the birth of rock and roll.

Set in a TV studio, the audience is invited to imagine they are watching a live recording of a comedy show and are expected to join in accordingly.

Actors Avita Jay and Taresh Solanki will be bringing some Bollywood glamour to proceedings and will give the show a ‘Kumars from number 42’ meets ‘East in East’ feel.

Taresh has been acting ever since he accidently walked onto the shoot of a television set while working in Mumbai and given the role of the ‘hit man’ in a Hindi version of Day of the Jackal, while Avita has been sussing out Windsor in her role of a snooty air hostess in a Bollywood film based at Heathrow.

The company have 20 years experience delighting audiences with their inspired approach to Shakespeare's plays and their trademark family friendly, madcap, slapstick style.

The show is directed by Andy Barrow, and the cast includes Oddsocks regulars Elli Mackenzie as Mistress Page/Mistress Quickly, Andy McGillan as Falstaff and newcomers Paul O'Neill (Master Ford), Avita Jay (Mistress Ford/Anne Page) and Taresh Solanki. (Master Page).

Tickets are available online at www.bridgehousetheatre.co.uk or by calling 01926 776438.
