Man in court over sex crimes in the 1980s

A FORMER Warwick resident has appeared in court charged with sexual offences dating back to the 1980s.

Barry Phillips, now 57 and formerly of Newburgh Crescent, has been charged by Warwickshire Police with three counts of rape, three charges of indecent assault and three charges of gross indency, all against a girl under the age of 16.

The alleged offences took place between 1983 and 1989.

Phillips was set to appear before magistrates in Leamington yesterday (Monday).
