Premier pair back in action

28/12 Updated: 04/01 11:13

AFTER their Christmas break, Southam United are back in Athium Midland Combination Premier Division action when they entertain Cadbury Athletic on Saturday (12.30pm).

Luke Fogarty’s side are on a high after scoring nine goals without reply against Castle Vale JKS in their last match, with striker Ross Jackson bagging four. It was Saints biggest win in the league since overcoming Kenilworth Town 10-0 on 27 December 1999.

Saints will be without captain John Blunsom, who starts a three-match suspension following his sending off against Earlswood Town, as well as Andy Millan who has picked up a one-match ban for five bookings in the season.

But, experienced defender Quentin Townsend is available, having completed his suspension, and Tunde Ajibade, who was ill for the JKS match, should also be in contention.

With a late morning kick-off, Saints are hoping to attract extra support from Leamington fans, who can take in the match before going to the New Windmill Ground for the encounter with Frome Town. Members of the Vice Presidents Club, season ticket holders or Brakes Trust members will receive a free programme on presentation of their passes.

Meanwhile, Racing Club Warwick also resume Premier Division action after their lengthy festive break with a trip to Bartley Green.

Racing have not played since beating Stockingford AA 6-3 in the Coventry Charity Cup on Saturday, December 10.
