A SMALL team of Leamington ASC swimmers secured a well-earned fourth place in the Crystal Open meet at Stourbridge which attracted some big city clubs.
It was the club’s first competitive action following the Christmas break and senior performance swimmer Sophie Vale, 14, took one of the prestigious Crystal goblets for winning the overall 100m breaststroke.
She also claimed silver in the 100m butterfly plus bronze in the 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
The Pickett sisters also reaped success with Hannah, 14, taking silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke whilst Jade, 11, gained bronze in the 50m freestyle after knocking more than two seconds off her personal best by clocking 32.67.
Teigan Parker, 11, continued her recent spell of excellent form by clocking up three silvers in 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, bronze in the 50m breaststroke and gold in the last event of the day the 200m freestyle.
Team-mate Luke Williams,11, swam a blinding race to take gold in the 50m freestyle.
The ten-year-olds saw Aran Shuttlewood gaining silver in both the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley plus bronze in the 50m breaststroke.
Sophie Woodland finished third in the girls 50m butterfly and swam hard to gain a nine second improvement to her 100m individual medley personal best.
There were notable swims from Lily O’Brien, who slashed 20 seconds off her 200m breaststroke best, and Edward Jolly who improved his 100m indovidual medley time by over 13 seconds.
Squads have been training hard in preparation for the forthcoming busy season which includes the Warwickshire Championships in March.
