• Ginn strike is a tonic

07 October 2009

CHRIS GINN grabbed the only goal as Racing Club Warwick recorded a welcome 1-0 Midland Combination Prtemier Division victory over Cadbury Athletic at Hampton Road on Saturday.
Ginn struck with a smart left-foot volley two minutes before the break which proved enough to give Racing their fourth victory of a turbulent season to date which lifted them up to 14th in the table.
Manager Mark Fenemore drafted in new defender Rich Munday, who is on loan from Romulus, and was rewarded with a first clean sheet of the campaign.
Racing visit Walsall Wood on Saturday (3pm) before entertaining Dosthill Colts on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Meanwhile, Racing’s youngsters recorded a splendid 3-1 Birmingham County Midweek Youth Cup victory after extra-time at Coventry Sphinx.
Gareth Gray volleyed Racing ahead which looked like proving enough but the Premier Division hosts grabbed a last-gasp equialiser to force an extra 30 minutes.
Racing recovered from the setback to dominate extra-time with Frazer Laird restoring the lead after good work by impressive central defende Andy Smith, Lewis Ashwood and Matt Wright.
The lively Wright was then involved with Tilgan to set up captain Luke Devereux who clinically sealed Racing’s passage into the last 16.
